How It Works

Our competition invites students to uplift their schools and hone their academic work ethic through a fun and engaging reading competition.

1

Schools Register Their Teams

Schools register 20 students each in teams of five and compete in a dedicated school category.

2

Students Learn to Read Maa

Using a combination of in-person training arranged by our partners, the local community, and online resources, students learn to read Maa.

3

Students Record Their Readings

Students record and submit their readings in 30-second videos via our 'cheat-proof' online platform.

4

Judges Review and Score Submissions

Native Maa speakers appointed by our Maasai community NGO partners review and score submissions based on pronunciation, accuracy, and accent.

5

Schools and Students Receive Their Prizes

Schools and students receive their prizes based on their performance, whether it's direct payment of school fees, prepurchased school supplies, or school facility improvements.
